Make sure the PC software is downloaded and installed before the operation.

Connect X431 ECU Programmer and computer via a USB cable
Note: if the device is the first time to be used, it needs to be activated with the serial number and activation code (the activation code can be obtained from the envelope of the X431 ECU Programmer), and follow the prompt to operate directly.
Run X-431 ECU & TCU Programmer PC software
Input VL381 in the search box, the car make, model, year and ECU model is found quickly
It’s Audi A4 2007 ALT 2000 130 VL381 TC1766.
Click the ECU to enter the operation page
Click “Direct connection of diagram” to check the corresponding diagram, and follow it to connect X-431 ECU & TCU Programmer and VL381 gearbox TCU via the X-Prog3 Adapter Cable 2 (both are in the same package)
Click “Connect” to identify the TCU chip info
Click “Read EEPROM data” to read and save the original data
