Autel Diagnostic Tool tablet is known for its diagnostic prowess, but the comprehensive hot key service menu of tablet is what gives technicians immediately access to service function. These features enabling both simple and complicated services to be performed with equal efficiency.
The diesel particulate filter(DPF) is an emissions control device standard on 2009 and newer diesel fuel burning vehicles. The filter collects toxic soot particles and prevents them from escaping into the air over time soot build up in the filter.
The DPF system is designed to automatically regenerate the filter by using engine heat to burn the soot into smaller particles. If the vehicle is unable to regenerate the filter during regular use. It may prompt the driver to operate the vehicle for a specific period of time at a specific speed.
Autel scan tool enable the technician to conduct a forced DPF regeneration for when the system fails. Now let’s use the Autel MaxiCheck MX808 to perform a forced regeneration of a diesel particulate filter.
How to do DPF Regeneration?
We’re using an Autel MX808 for the demonstration, but all of Autel tablets features the same easy-to-use navigation and provide detailed step-by-step instructions like Autel MK808, MP808, MS906BT, etc.
Connect MX808 with OBD firstly.
Before attempting a DPF regeneration, select “Auto scan” to scan the vehicle for engine codes, the DPF regeneration cannot occur while codes are present.
Go to
Service >> DPF >> Hot functions >> DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter) manual regeneration >> Yes >> F-350 >> OK
Make sure the following initial conditions have been met:
Vehicle is not moving.
Vehicle is in PARK.
Parking brake applied.
Start engine or crank for 5s if engine does not start.
Note: do not depress the throttle pedal.
The MX808 will proceed to perform the regeneration itself, it takes about 20-40 minutes depending on the amount of congestion within the filter.

It will display a message once the regeneration has been completed.
The engine will return to normal rpms and the exhaust should be noticeably clearer than before. The DPF procedure light can be reset in the previous menu.
Just follow the instructions, it is an easy job to be done.
