Performing a power side shift chain adjustment on a JCB Backhoe Loader

Chain tension should be checked after the first 100 hours and every 500 hours.
Check and adjust

1 Park the machine on firm, level ground, set the parking brake, and put the transmission in neutral. Lower the loader arms to the ground.
2 Center the skid and place the bucket on the ground, remove the starter key.
3 Check the chain tension, which is 5 to 10 mm (0.19 to 0.19 mm) at the center 39 inch) deflection should be A. Tension should be the same for all chains.
4 If adjustment is required, loosen locknuts C and adjust nuts B as necessary, then tighten locknuts C.
5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the opposite chain pair. Note: If this is the case, there is no thread left to adjust. Fit new chains.
6 Move the carriage back and forth several times and check the deflection again.

Removal
1 Park the machine on firm, level ground, set the parking brake, and put the transmission in neutral. Lower the loader arms to the ground.
2 Center the skid and place the bucket on the ground, remove the starting key.
3 Loosen and remove nuts B.
4 Remove cotter pins D and pin E.5 Pull the chains off the machine.

Assembly
1 Pass chains around pulley and secure to carriage with pin E, fit new cotter pins D.
2 Connect chain tensioner, tension chains as required, see Checking and Adjusting
